Abstract The new compounds M 2+ Zr(SeO 4 ) 3 ( = Mg, Mn, Co, Ni, Zn, Cd) and Li 2 Zr( X O S, Se) were synthesized at 220 °C by reaction of Zr (CO )(OH) with hydroxides or carbonates / the respective acids H SeO /H SO . They form crystals up to several tenths a mm investigated single crystal X-ray diffraction. framework structures these selenates can be deduced from that monoclinic Fe (SO in space group P 1 /n , which is characterized two types isolated 3+ 6 octahedra, corner-linked three different sulfate groups: ferric iron substituted 1:1 ratio 4+ as already known for isotypic Zr(SO representatives. In case members, one additional lithium atom occupies tetrahedral vacancy architecture. Graphical abstract
